Training for Adult Leaders

Adult Training Aug. 8  and Aug. 14-15, 2009

Our annual adult leader training is held in February and August. This training is essential for Pack and Troop leaders, unit committee members and all interested adults. Training is offered in other Golden Empire Council districts at other times during the year.

The August 8 covers New Leader Essentials (for all) and specific training for Cub and Boy Scout leaders, committee members and Den Leaders. The August 14-15 training is Introduction To Outdoor Leadership for Boy Scout Leaders.

Internet Training

Before you begin the Internet training, find out how your name is listed in your primary unit's charter (e.g., John M. Doe) and know your unit number (e.g., Troop 66).

Youth Protection Training

Protect yourself and the youth in the Boy Scout programs. This training is a must for every parent and adult leader. At least one Youth Protection Trained adult must be on every outing of your unit. The Tour Permit requires identifying this adult.

Fast Start Training

Cub Scout Fast Start Online is a program designed to help you get up and running as a Cub Scout leader. You'll find out about the Cub Scout program and the specific responsibilities of your job, be it Den Leader or Cubmaster. If you're a parent, this training gives you an overview of the program.

Boy Scout Fast Start Online is a program designed to help you get up and running as a Boy Scout leader. You'll find out about the Boy Scout program and the specific responsibilities of your job, be it Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, or many of the other positions available to adult leaders. If you're a parent, this training gives you an overview of the program.

Varsity Fast Start training is only available on video from the Council Office or your LDS Stake contact.

Venturing Fast Start Online is a program designed to give you the basics of the Venturing program and to help you get your Venturing Crew off to a successful start.

Safe Swim Defense & Safety Afloat Training

These two training programs provide instruction in the aquatic safety requirements for Scouts engaged in water activities. The Tour Permit requires identifying adults with these trainings if water activities are planned.
